Why Attend MHIS?

Not so long ago parents had little choice in the selection of a school for their child to attend. Typically, a student would be required to register at the school nearest to their home. Private, independent and international schools existed but not to the extent that we see today. Currently, with significant growth in the education market and considerable school choices available, parents must now confront many questions. What to do? Where to go? Who has the best program, facility, staff?

The research is quite clear with respect to the characteristics of successful schools: high standards and expectations; effective leadership; curriculum and instruction aligned with standards; frequent monitoring of teaching and learning; focused professional development; high levels of collaboration; and high levels of community and parent involvement.

In addition, there is a body of evidence which indicates that school climate is a critical factor for school success and that school climate has been associated with higher academic achievement and healthy behavioral outcomes for students.

At Mission Hills International School, we are committed to building a pre-eminent school. We will invest considerable financial resources in the construction of an exciting new building and campus. We will leverage the world-class facilities available to us as a partner within the Mission Hills group. We are dedicated to hiring successful teachers with a proven track record. We will provide an engaging and challenging program of studies and co-curricular activities. We feel a duty to prepare students for admission into top-tier universities.

Most importantly, we are committed to implementing operational measures that link our program with what the research tells us in terms of successful schools. We feel strongly about the need to form school climate that is shaped around a sense of community and includes measures such as harmony, safety, respect, positive relationships and connectedness.

We are dedicated to building a dynamic learning community and we invite you to share in this exciting development.

Bilingualism

The collective evidence from a number of studies suggests that a bilingual experience improves the brain's executive function - a command system that directs the attention processes that we use for planning, solving problems and performing various other mentally demanding tasks.

Holistic Development

At MHIS, we intend to provide students with a daily robust Physical Education program. Research has shown a connection between increased levels of physical activity and better academic achievement, concentration, classroom behavior, and more focused learning.

Pablo Picasso said "Every child is an artist. The challenge is to remain an artist after you grow up." The arts teach children that problems can have more than one solution and that questions can have more than one answer.
